At Ivanhoe School we want our students to love learning and be as successful as they can be. We believe we can make a difference, so we aim for the highest quality learning in every lesson, every day. Developing learners is at the core of all we do and conversations about Teaching and Learning are at the heart of the school ethos.
You can read our innovative Teaching and Learning Policy by clicking here. We recognise that students learn best in a positive, supportive and consistent environment. Well prepared, enriching and stimulating learning experiences encourage good attendance, positive behaviour and enable students to make progress and strive to achieve their potential. We consistently find that our students respond remarkably to the high expectations that we put on them. But, our curriculum is so much more than what goes on in any classroom.
Continuing our journey from KS3 into KS4 for the first time has been a source of enormous professional excitement for Ivanhoe's teachers and leaders. Being able to build on our fabulous KS3 curriculum offer, with it's breadth and depth of opportunities and subjects, giving our students the skills to make informed choices on how to continue in their GCSEs and beyond, is a great privilege! We feel it is incredibly important to develop ‘The Whole Child’ and we encourage curiosity and questioning from our students. The student voice is an important part of setting the strategic direction of our school.
At Ivanhoe we encourage and support the ‘Journey to Excellence’ in any areas that interest our students, whether this be curriculum subjects, extra-curricular opportunities at school or external competitions and clubs: we love to celebrate the successes of our students. At Ivanhoe we value so much more than just academic achievement; we help students to take on Leadership Roles, be Pro-Social and have a Growth Mindset, and thus help them find their place in society.
