What category of Governor are you?

I am a Staff Governor. I am the Subject Leader for Music at Ivanhoe.

Do you have any specific roles on the Governing Body?

Which committees are you a member of?

I am a member of the Health and Safety Committee and the Curriculum Committee.

Why did you apply to be a Governor at Ivanhoe?

I applied for the role of staff as I wanted to represent staff at Ivanhoe College on the board of governors.  I relish the opportunity to represent the views of Ivanhoe staff and to give a teachers view point on whole school issues.

I wanted to build on my experiences and gain knowledge of how the school works on a whole school basis.

In my role as staff governor I feel staff would be happy to come to me with their thoughts and views, or would speak freely and honestly if I approached them about school issues.  I am a good listener and can also put across a good argument and uphold staff thoughts and views when needed.

What experiences have you had in your life that you bring to your work on the Governing Body?

9 years experience as a music teacher in schools (13 years including private music teaching)

1 year experience as Head of Year.

5 years experience as Subject Leader of Music.

2 terms as MLT - SLT link.

7 years experience as NASUWT health and safety representative.

6 years experience as NASUWT representative.

I have previously managed a team of 5 staff in an extremely busy retail environment.
