What category of Governor are you?

I am a Community Governor

Do you have any specific roles on the Governing Body?

As well as being Chair of Learning and Curriculum Committee I am also Safeguarding Governor.

Which committees are you a member of?

I am chair of Curriculum and Learning Committee.

Why did you apply to be a Governor at Ivanhoe College?

I oroginally applied for the role as Parent Governor when my eldest daughter moved into Year 7.  Like everyone else, everything I knew about education at that stage I had learned from my own experience both as a child (a very long time ago!) and a parent.  I had heard a lot about Ivanhoe from past parents before my daughter started at the school and I was determined to find out for myself how the school works to give our young people the education that they deserve.   I have been on the Governing Body for 4 years now and have now been appointed as a a Community Governor. I use my role to support Ivanhoe in delivering what I believe is an excellent service both to students and the wider community.

What experiences have you had in your life that you bring to your work on the Governing Body?
  • I spent over 20 years on the receiving end of education at school and also as an undergraduate and a postgraduate student.
  • I am a parent of two daughters one is now at Ashby School and one is at Ivanhoe.
  • From my professional life I have experience of people management, project management and planning.
