We are looking forward to welcoming your child to Ivanhoe in the Autumn Term and starting to work in partnership with you on their ’Journey to Excellence’. As I am sure you will understand under the present emergency and following government guidance, sadly, we are unable to welcome you personally. Despite this the information below will inform you of all the hard work we have put in to make sure that the transition of your child is as smooth and supportive as possible.
We would like to invite you to view these two videos to receive the information we would usually give you in person. We would ask you to sit with your child and watch the presentations together.
With your welcome letter you should have received confirmation of your child's tutor group and house. Please click on the appropriate link below for an introduction from your Head of House.
Sadly, we will not be allowed to run Welcome Days before the end of term, however our plan is to run these at the start of next term. We are planning dedicated days for this where only your Year 7 students will be attending. Ideally, we would like to have the whole of Year 7 in for two full days on 26th and 27th August. Please check our website regularly over the summer for any further updates as our plans may have to change based on government guidance.
What to bring on the welcome days:
Break & Lunch arrangements- on Year 7 Welcome Days in August:
Morning break will be at staggered times to enable social distancing and students will be told when their break will be when they meet with their form tutor at the start of the day. For these welcome days, students are advised to bring a healthy snack with them to eat daily at break, especially as our lunch time is later than the majority of primary schools.
Lunch times will also be staggered, and students will be told when their lunch slot will be when they meet with their form tutor at the start of the day.
We strongly encourage all new Year 7 students to try an Ivanhoe lunch on their welcome days, so they know about the wide variety of choices available for lunch. Our daily school meal deal is £2.50. If students do wish to buy a school lunch, our preferred payment method is our online payment system Wisepay, full details, including log in information will be sent to you during the summer. Alternatively please provide cash or a cheque payable to Ivanhoe College (£7.50 for three days) in a sealed envelope with their child’s name and Tutor Group written on the front.
Students who don’t wish to have a school lunch can bring a healthy packed lunch. If your child normally has free school meals, they will be provided with a school meal.

Your child will be advised of lunch arrangements going forward at the welcome days – this will be either the issuing of a lunch card, or the use of our biometric system.
Getting to Ivanhoe

We look forward to working with you over the next three years and wish you and your child a happy and successful last few weeks at primary school and as smooth a transition to Ivanhoe College as possible under these current extraordinary circumstances. All the arrangements above are based on current government guidelines, should these change we will contact you as soon as possible.
