This year a selection of students from Year 7 and 8 have been taking part in a ‘scholars programme’ in conjunction with Cambridge University. The scholars programme provides pupils with an experience of university through tutorials from a university PhD tutor.
Bridget from Year 7 said, “The thing I enjoyed the most about the course was obtaining new knowledge and learning more about university style work, finding time to complete the work was a challenge but I overcame this by organising my time better. My project was about Life Expectancies around the World.”
Extract from Bridget’s project.
“Fiji has made some steps towards tackling its downfalls, however, I believe that by implementing my recommendations, to improve its diet and increase the population’s exercise; improve Fiji’s poverty rate by paying more money and giving its younger people opportunities to gain training; and by reducing its smoking rate, the country will improve its life expectancy and wellbeing.”
“Continuing to make such improvements, Fiji has shown a great potential of becoming a strong, outstanding country!”
