Latest Music News

Music News We have had great attendance at Music Clubs already this year, but there is still space for anyone else who would like to join us. Please note that Orchestra is on Thursdays, not Wednesday as may have been previously communicated.

The only exception to this is Turntablism, which is limited to 4 students per 6 week block. Please ask your child to speak to Mr Cubitt if they are interested in signing up.

  • Monday Lunch: Guitar Club and Music Tech Club
  • Tuesday Lunch: Keyboard Club
  • Wednesday Lunch: Choir and Turntablism
  • Thursday After School: Music Tech Club and Orchestra

Individual Music Lessons There are many instruments that students can learn at Ivanhoe, these include: Any Brass instrument - trumpet, trombone, cornet, tuba... Strings - Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass.... Woodwind - Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Oboe...Guitar electric and acoustic, Singing, Drums, Bass, Piano.

If we do not offer an instrument we will do our best to find you a teacher. Students can get peripatetic teacher details on Moodle under ‘General Info - Music’ or collect a letter from the music department. There is additional support for students looking to play an ‘endangered instrument’, the bassoon, oboe, trombone, french horn or double bass. This includes subsidised tuition and free instrument loan, through the Leicestershire Music Hub.
