Ivanhoe’s first Mental Health Week has been a huge success! We have had lots of activities on offer to promote positive things our students can do to support their mental health and well-being. We know that mental health is important every day, but it has been especially fantastic to spend the week trying out these activities.
Each morning, a house has taken part in the morning mile, which has consisted of walking as many laps of the astro-turf as they could. We have seen lots of smiles and laughter and has often been a really positive start to the day, despite the weather being slightly chilly at times.
On Monday, our student council started to create the mental health tree by putting their hand prints on to the canvas.
On Tuesday, we saw an absolutely outstanding turnout to our interhouse capture the flag event, which saw houses coming together to represent their teams. All of the 186 students that attended were absolutely fantastic and worked really hard. Capture the flag is definitely something we hope to do more of in the summer term.
Wednesday was the day for the bullet journaling, which Mrs Stewart and Mrs Hill kindly led on over lunch time. It gave the students some fantastic ideas of ways in which they could set out their bullet journals, whilst also making it really clear that they are personal so there is not a right or wrong answer. Lots of students that attended said how excited they were to continue their bullet journaling at home.
In the evening, we also completed the well-being walk with 48 students, which was an amazing experience. It was so much fun for all involved and getting out in the fresh air was such a positive experience for all of our well-being – staff and students alike!
The bake sale was brilliant once again, with so many lovely donations from home. We really hope some students found their love for baking or continued with their passion! Thanks to all those that contributed. We raised over £250 towards to the sports hall fund – thank you for your generosity.
Friday lunch time finished the week off with our ‘Fun Friday’, where students donated to throw sponges at a wide variety of staff.
Overall, a fun-filled week which we really hope that students enjoyed and got involved with! Look out for a well-being Bounce Together survey which will be coming out after the Easter break.
