Moodle Experience for Parents
Over the past 12 months we have been listening to feedback from parents regarding their experience of Moodle. We are
investigating and implementing the following changes to make the Moodle experience for Parents more user friendly.

We have started to roll out a new Parent-only layout that, once you have logged in, removes all the subject material for
students and presents you with a dashboard to everything you might need from Moodle; such as access to the school
database to view your child’s data and reports, an overview of homework being set electronically as well as guides on
how to make the best use of Moodle as possible. This has also been designed so that if you are browsing on a mobile
phone, the layout will reconfigure to make the same information accessible to you.

If you haven’t been moved to the new experience yet and wish to try it before it is added to your account, please log
into Moodle and click the Parent link at the top of the page.

In the coming months we will be working with our Moodle partner Webanywhere on two additional features;
• The first is to enable it so parent users are able to recover passwords without the need to email the support
contact (moodleparents@ivanhoe.co.uk). To ensure this is working properly, we will need to have your e-mail address
on record in the school database. If you have updated your details or haven’t submitted them before, please do so to
take advantage of this update.
• The second update addresses download issues from Moodle. Documents currently download in a format valid
for Microsoft Word which has not always displayed the information correctly. We are proud to announce that in the
coming months we are looking to publish all future reports as PDF documents which will open on any device. We will
also convert old reports, however the formatting on these will look different, but all the key data is still present.

We would like to thank parents for their invaluable feedback and look forward to receiving more feedback via the
parent Moodle support email address (moodleparents@ivanhoe.co.uk).
