Congratulations to Mr. Gray who will be joining the SEND team as a permanent member of staff following a very successful round of interviews. The standard of candidates continues to be incredibly strong and we are delighted to welcome Mr. Gray who brings with him a wealth of experience working with SEND students.

Mr. Gray will be taking over as Learning Mentor to all Mr. Orton’s previous mentees. If your child was mentored by Mr. Orton, please look out for an email from Mr. Gray in the coming week.

Year 8 and 9 have been working hard in their SEND interventions. Some of these are due to complete over the next few weeks and staff have reported a high level of engagement with the support on offer. Please encourage your child to share their success with you if they have been attending one of these additional sessions.
We are currently working on adding Year 7 students to our intervention lists following a review of individual students’ needs. Members of the team will be in contact with parents of students in all years once lists for the next round of interventions have been finalised.

The SEND Team and representatives of the Teaching Team joined us for ADHD training with Claire Greasley from ADHD Solutions at the end of last half term. This was incredibly well received by all who attended and we were delighted to receive positive feedback during the session regarding the support strategies currently in use for students with ADHD. Claire has also offered us some additional strategies that the team will be embedding as good practice over the next term.

The findings were damning for a number of Local Authorities and the Department for Education, but we wanted to reiterate to parents that at Ivanhoe we take our responsibilities for supporting students with additional needs very seriously and we will continue to work hard to support our students as best as we can and to build positive and supportive relationships between parents and our staff.
