Student iPad Provision

In our endeavor to continuously enhance outcomes for students; we embark on a partnership with the Birmingham e-Learning Foundation and Albion Computers (Apple Authorised Education Specialist) to offer parents/carers the opportunity to acquire an iPad for their child(ren) to use in school; as well as for learning at home.

As a technology specialist college; we believe that all students having access to their own devices - further enhancing the use of ICT; in and out of the classroom, will further support and enhance their learning - allowing for personalised access to a wealth of creative content, resources and tools.

We have launched the iPad scheme in preparation for the next academic year; as detailed overleaf, with monthly contributions that include insurance, and accessories at a considerable saving on the recommended retail price of an iPad. We have a dedicated online portal where you can find all of the information regarding the scheme, find FAQ’s and where you can sign up to the iPad scheme. Please see further infomration on the next page.

The school is committed to the scheme and is making an investment in teacher training; such that teachers are empowered to lead with the technology in the classroom as an assistive tool for learning.

Monthly contributions are collected by the Birmingham e-learning Foundation; a charity that uses gift aid, collected via the scheme, to cover administration costs; any excess is awarded back to the school to help the sustainability of the scheme.

We do hope that you are as enthusiastic about this scheme as we are, here in our schools; we would encourage you to sign up as soon as possible as the scheme is only open for a limited time and the portal will be closing on the 1st of July. We hope to then have the iPad bundles ready for the new academic year.

Further details about the scheme

We believe that digital learning is an essential part of 21st-century education. We encourage every student to have their own iPad to use in and out of school as an additional learning resource. This does not replace traditional teaching methods, rather it enhances opportunities to learn and allows for a “dip in dip out” approach to technology as and when appropriate. As you can imagine this has been an invaluable resource during the Covid-19 lockdown and has allowed students to continue all of their lessons as if they were in school.

Should your child not have access to their own iPad, one can be acquired through the school.

All iPads will be fitted with a MDM (mobile device management system) which will allow increased student safeguarding and control. During the school day, your son/daughter will not be able to use a variety of non-educational apps including social media and games.

If your son/daughter would like to bring in his/her own iPad this is possible, but we will expect to enrol the iPad into our MDM scheme. Older iPads may not be suitable for the MDM and we will need to assess these on a case by case basis.

Monthly contributions are collected by the Birmingham e-learning Foundation (BeLF), a charity that uses gift aid collected via the scheme to cover administration costs; any excess is awarded back to the school to help the sustainability of the scheme.

Digital technology is embedded within our curriculum across all subjects and we believe that all families owning their own devices will further enhance their child’s learning, allowing access to a wealth of creative content and digital resources.
