As the season of Remembrance approaches, we are looking to create a display within our school Reception to commemorate the sacrifice made by those who fought within both the first and second world wars.
We are askIng each student to make at least one poppy that could be added to this communal and commemorative display. Poppies should be sent in to school by Monday 3rd November so that they can be added to the communal display. These should be handed to Mrs Thomas in D4. If students can add their name and house to the back of their poppy these entries will be totaled up for each house so that houses can earn points towards the Inter house competition too.
It would be great for every student to be involved in this display in some way and maybe to spend a small amount of time making a poppy over the half-term break.
We are interested to receive poppies made out of any suitable materials - fabric, clay, cardboard, paper, please add a small hole so that your poppy may be hung on our decorative display. We would also welcome drawings or 2D images of poppies- either drawn or painting- be as creative as you can! It will be great to make this display as visual as possible. All members of the Ivanhoe community are welcome to contribute- students, staff as well as members of the community.

This display forms part of the Poppy appeal at Ivanhoe this year which will also involve remembrance assemblies, an Interhouse classroom window competition and the laying of a wreath at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday by Ivanhoe students and staff.
It would also be nice if students and families are remembering a family member who fought within the war to incorporate this as part of their design - it could be a photograph or the name of the person being remembered.
