Dear Interested Party,
Consultation on LiFE Multi Academy Trusts admissions arrangements for 2026 – 2027.
I am writing to notify you of the consultation on the 2026 – 2027 admissions arrangements for 4 academies (Ashby, Countesthorpe, Ivanhoe and Ibstock) within the Trust. The consultation period will run from the 13th December, 2024 until 5.00pm on the 31st January, 2025; during this time, parents and other key stakeholders are invited to express their views and any concerns about the proposed admission arrangements.
In accordance with the DfE’s 2021 statutory ‘School Admissions Code’ guidance, as the Admissions Authority, the Trust must consult on its Academies' admission arrangements when changes are proposed, and at least once every seven years. For this reason, a consultation is currently being held to meet the Trusts statutory duty.
The draft 2026 - 2027 admissions arrangements are available to view on the Trust Website here. Copies of the documents can also be obtained from the academy’s office listed below.

Below is a brief outline of the proposed amendments which have been made to the Trust's academies' admissions arrangements in relation to Ashby, Countesthorpe, Ivanhoe and Ibstock –

Current Admissions Policy - 5.30 The Council does not hold waiting lists beyond 31st December however Ashby, Ibstock and Ivanhoe retain a waiting list past that date. At any point while on the oversubscription (waiting) list, the family’s circumstances change and the Council has been made aware, the application will be assessed again, and the lists will be re-ranked in accordance with the priority criteria. Where a family has failed to notify the Council of such a change and is subsequently offered a place, that place may be withdrawn.
Proposed change to the Admission Policy for 2026 – 2027 -
5.30 The Council holds waiting lists up to 31st December for the Year 7 transfer cycle. At any point while on the oversubscription (waiting) list, the family’s circumstances change and the Council has been made aware, the application will be assessed again, and the lists will be re-ranked in accordance with the priority criteria. Where a family has failed to notify the Council of such a change and is subsequently offered a place, that place may be withdrawn.

In accordance with statutory DfE guidance, the consultation must run for a minimum of at least six calendar weeks, starting on the 13th December, 2024. As an interested party, we are keen to hear your views on the proposed changes; therefore, we invite you to participate in the consultation.
Responses to the consultation should be submitted before 5.00pm on the 31st January, 2025 and can be made in the following ways –

Please note that written responses should include your name and relationship to the academy and marked for the attention of the Head of Governance.
At the end of the consultation period, the responses will be considered before the final admissions arrangements for each academy are presented to the LiFE Multi Academy Trust’s Board of Trustees for approval.
