This week was Take Your Child to work week. Our learners have had some fantastic experiences in different careers settings.

Harrison had his work experience day at Buxton Lime. Harrison had a site tour including climbing the 55m Lime Kiln, the grinding and hydrate facility. He then spent the rest of the day with the Laboratory team collecting samples from our two quarries and testing them to make sure they meet our customers expectations!
Thomas went to West Midlands Police where he met the team. He then got toi see HOLMES (Home Office Large Major Enquiry System) which was created following the Yorkshire ripper case. He spent time with Mobile phone searching and CCTV teams and also got to go to court on a homicide case!
Jensen went to Acumec where he completed his Health & Safety induction, gained valuable work experience, and returned feeling very positive about the day. He is now considering exploring this area of engineering further. I would highly recommend this opportunity for other students, as it truly provides a great insight into working life. Here's a photo of Jenson in the Engineering workshop.
