Recently, 47 Year 9 students embarked on a remarkable educational journey to France and Belgium, supporting our History curriculum. This trip provided students with the opportunity to visit significant historical sites, including the Thiepval Memorial, Tynecot Cemetery, Passchendaele Museum, Lochnagar Crater, Vimy Ridge, and the Newfoundland Memorial.
A highlight of the trip was the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of Ivanhoe during the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate. This poignant moment allowed our students to reflect on the sacrifices made during conflict and the importance of remembrance.
The exemplary behaviour displayed by our students throughout the trip was commendable, and the experience was truly moving. Witnessing young people appreciate the profound impact of conflict was unforgettable, reinforcing the importance of history in shaping our understanding of the world today.
