Design and Technology

Subject Vision

We believe in providing every child with success and equipping them to allow their creativity and curiosity to flourish. As a department, we devote a lot of time to helping students improve and develop not only their core art and design expertise, but also many transferable skills.

We offer a broad range of subjects within Design and Technology with lots of opportunities to develop and build on core knowledge and skills. Throughout years 7 & 8 students will study 5 specialist areas across Design and Technology, these are Resistant Materials, Textiles, Graphics, Product Design and Food & Nutrition. In Year 9 they will specialise in 4 of these areas in preparation for their GCSE. Students are taught in mixed ability groups and have the opportunity to use up to date machinery in specialist design workshops.
